The Failure of the American System

Examining our culture which immerses young people from a very early age into cut-throat and bitter competition where the student is taught to crush the competition is good and the allowance of others to think, love and be is considered a failure. Young students are coerced into a power struggle where they are taught “to get ahead in life” and “exert control over others(adeptly disguised by calling it winning others and influencing others)” is what the game of life is all about. Yes the great gift of life in American Schools where the Bible has been banned has been reduced to a game of money-making and “us and them” competition. In a culture where making lots of money and crushing the competition are the chief goals where do Christ-like virtues fit in? It is clear that they do not fit in at all; in fact they are an abomination. One is taught to put themselves ahead of others not as Paul teaches in the letter to the Philippians as he exhorts believers to hold others in higher esteem than themselves and be concerned with the interests and dreams and visions of others and do nothing out of “selfish ambition”. In a culture where selfish ambition is applauded as “great” and “forward looking” and “progressive” being a Christian with Christ-centered visions and mindset is a very difficult thing indeed. We are laughed at in social scenes, our values scorned and ridiculed and our kindness in the work place is most often mistaken for weakness in order to take advantage of our generosity and willingness to help and use our gentleness and meekness for personal gain and selfish ambition. Many of us have been cast-typed as “mentally ill” and persecuted with drugs we have to take or else be incarcerated. These being cheaply made but expensively sold tranquilizers which dumb the victim into submission. In this failed American Capitalistic system it is everyone for themselves and money is the almighty god of choice the commander in chief the end all be all. With this perspective the average day becomes a savage feeding frenzy where violence can and does break out frequently and there is no safety or self-assurance in group gatherings. Wherever people are assembled in this perverse society, money is the objective and tensions run high, people are coerced and manipulated, labor is exploited, and class warfare is as commonplace as people are. In this hot bed of ill feelings and short impatient tempers toward one another and a rather shallow view of individuals exists that is there are no equals someone is either above you or below you in the pecking order, it is nearly impossible to preach Christ. If someone begins to preach Christ they are locked up, scourged or fired. Churches don’t speak out against this perversion and decadence they actually contribute to it because they are supported by business owners and these churches themselves are profit-motivated. Churches also for the most part are not open to the general public except on Sundays so there is no support for those who find the culture in every respect the enemy of Christ-like virtues that it truly is. A kind and meek person is an outcast an outsider in this push me, pull you rat race and neon cement jungle we call America the Beautiful. It is a culture that is based on competition with others and a power-over mentality that rejects Christ and His disciplines of faith, hope, love and charity. Abuse runs rampant and no one is free to express themselves spiritually even in most homes.
What then? Did you think I would just give-up? My pen quipped I convict you all of the worshiping of wealth and money and continue to warn you of the consequences. You don’t see that you shut-out Jesus and squelch the Holy Spirit every time you go to work for your wicked bosses and play the money game. Build your communities with Jesus at the center and horde not the resources to yourselves as you have been doing in this country since the late 19th century kissing the ass of greed and worshiping wealth and share the wealth with everyone you meet and preach Jesus as described in the Bible. Feed the poor, house the homeless and stop this petty war over small amounts of money which in the end profits the individual who hordes it nothing. Oh let the great dream of American christendom and community of the faithful awaken!!!
